St. Albans City Plan Revision
![]() The St. Albans City Planning Commission is working on an update to the City’s Municipal Plan and has hired the Northwest Regional Planning Commission to assist them with the project. Municipal plans are enabled under the Vermont Municipal and Regional Planning and Development Act (Title 24, Chapter 11, Vermont Statutes Annotated) and are required to include a comprehensive analysis of the community, including housing, energy, and transportation needs and policy on future land use patterns and the provision of services. To reflect changes within the community and to further a continuing planning process, the law requires that the City Plan be updated at least every five years. The current St. Albans City Plan will expire in September of 2011. Updating the Municipal Plan is important because it will provide the community an opportunity to discuss how the town is growing and changing, identify long-term goals to work towards for the future, and decide on important short-term projects to work on in the next 5 years. The Municipal Plan is also the basis for the Zoning and Subdivision Regulations that guide development in the City. The Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6:30PM at the St. Albans City Hall. All meetings are open to the public. For questions or comments on the St. Albans City Plan update, please contact Jim Tischler, the City’s Planning and Development Director, at 524-1500 ext. 265 or je.tischler@stalbansvt.com. |
