Help Shape the Next Chapter for Fairfax

Every eight years, Fairfax updates its Town Plan, which guides decisions about zoning regulations, infrastructure, and other community projects. It reflects our shared vision for the future and outlines the steps needed to get there.

Fairfax is one of the fastest-growing towns in Franklin County which can bring both opportunities and challenges. As Fairfax navigates change, we want to hear from residents about your hopes for the future of Fairfax. This plan update will run from October 2025-October 2026. This webpage will be regularly updated with information on how to participate and project documents.

The Town has received a grant from the Agency of Commerce and Community Development to complete this update. The Town will be working with the Northwest Regional Planning Commission to conduct public outreach and to draft the updated plan.

How to Get Involved

The Fairfax Planning Commission held a Pizza & Planning Event on February 17, 2026. A summary of what we’ve heard so far can be found here. Missed the event? Provide feedback online here  or attend a Planning Commission meeting.

A presentation on the full updated draft plan will be held in June (exact date TBD). Section drafts can be found on this website as they are developed under project documents. The Planning Commission welcomes your feedback!
