SOUTH HERO IS WORKING ON DEVELOPING A VISION FOR USE AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEWLY ACQUIRED LAVIN PROPERTY.
THIS WEBSITE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED!
What is the Lavin Property: The Town of South Hero acquired the 96-acre Lavin Property in 2025, funded entirely by state and federal grants for the purpose of developing a community wastewater system. While a portion of the property will be used for a community wastewater system (South Hero Wastewater Committee website), it has potential to benefit the community in other ways as well.
Project Purpose: This project will develop a community-supported vision for how this land can be used to benefit the public good and further the vision and goals of the town plan.
Steering Committee and Timeline: The Selectboard has appointed a Steering Committee to guide the Lavin Property Vision Project, which will unfold concurrently with the Wastewater Committee’s efforts to design a community wastewater system at the site.
The Steering Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:30PM at the South Hero Town Hall. For agenda and minutes, please visit the Committee’s page on the Town of South Hero website.
Funding and Support: The project is being funded by a Municipal Planning Grant. The budget is for a $13,716 grant with $1,524 in local cash match for a total project cost of $15,240. The Town has hired the Northwest Regional Planning Commission to complete the project.
